• IRS Issues Final Regulations on Individual Mandate Provision
Starting in 2014, section 5000A of the Internal Revenue Code (Code), as added by the Affordable Care Act, requires individuals who are not exempt by law to maintain "minimum essential coverage" (MEC) for themselves and certain family members or pay a "shared responsibility" payment with their federal income tax return. The Outlook for the Franchise Industry is Looking Good
The International Franchise Association recently published their Franchise Business Economic Outlook. It presents an update of IHS Global Insight's forecast of the franchise sector of the U.S. economy in 2013 and the outlook is bright. They are expecting the number of franchise establishments in the United States to increase by 1.4 percent in 2013, near the pace of 2012. In addition, employment in franchise establishments should increase 1.9 percent in 2013, following a gain of 2.2 percent in 2012.
